From retail management to real estate
Amanda worked in retail management for nearly 20 years before she moved into real estate. Here is how it happened, in her words.
I decided to get into real estate after working in retail management for nearly 20 years. I was tired of closing stores and the level of stress that comes with that. A friend who is also an agent felt that my background in customer service and my organization skills would make me a great fit for a front desk position at the brokerage she was at. I applied, interviewed and was offered the position.
I was very good at it, and after a few years the brokerage offered to pay for me to get my license. I took them up on it. It was the next natural step, because it would open doors for me to work as an agent or as an admin on a team. I got my license on St. Patrick's Day of 2022, and here we are today.

Giving back
Amanda tutors students who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity through Brightlane Learning, an Indianapolis nonprofit that provides academic support to students facing housing instability or homelessness. She has served on its SPARK outreach and fundraising committee since the 2022/23 school year, and she was Secretary in 2023/24.
She also volunteers with the Hendricks County Humane Society, where she has served on the Dogtona and Sit, Sip, Stay committees since 2022. She has been on the Santa for Riley planning committee and a sponsor since 2022.
Over the years she has volunteered on a couple of Habitat for Humanity builds in Boone County. She has also volunteered at Indy Hygiene Hub, an organization that provides hygiene items, diapers, women's products and more to unhoused, low-income and struggling families. She regularly volunteers with several other organizations that assist unhoused neighbors.
The annual Point-in-Time count
Amanda is a regular volunteer with the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count held by CHIP. CHIP describes the PIT count as a federally mandated, single-night census of Marion County residents experiencing homelessness. Here is what it means to her.
Volunteers spread out across the city to get an accurate-as-possible count of the area's unhoused neighbors. This data is then used to help provide federal and state data and funding.
I enjoy being able to interact with these neighbors. Most of them just want someone to talk to them and treat them like humans, as most people walk on by and ignore them. I am very big on always talking to these neighbors when I see them out and about in the community. A hello, a smile and a handshake go such a long way.
Her why
I am big on service and giving back to the community, my clients and the industry. I also believe in learning and growing to be the best that I can be for my clients, my team and my brokerage. You should never be the smartest person in any room that you are in.
Another big piece of my why is my daughter. I like being able to travel with her, go to concerts together and fund her ever-growing shoe collection.
When she is not helping clients buy or sell homes, Amanda spends time with her family, friends and dogs. She is always up for a new adventure, whether that is a concert with her daughter, the latest coffee shop, or a sidequest with her daughter or friends.
Her favorite part of the job
Amanda's favorite part of the job is seeing the joy on her clients' faces when they find the right home or receive a great offer on the home they are selling. She is proud to work as a full-service agent in the Indianapolis market and to guide clients through every step of their real estate journey.
