Sidedoor Bagel

Bon Appétit once called these some of the best bagels outside New York, and the hand-tossed sourdough backs it up. Come for the everything-everything bagel, stay for a coffee slushie, and get there before the Saturday line wraps the block.

Neighborhood Spotlight
Fountain Square
Southeast of downtown, at the end of the Cultural Trail.
One of the city’s six cultural districts, and the one that has held onto its character the hardest. Virginia Avenue is the spine. The Murphy Arts Center anchors the north end with working studios and galleries, and the blocks around it are packed: Upland for a beer, Bovaconti for coffee, Howl & Hide for leather goods, and Monti for the new Italian everyone is talking about. You can walk the Cultural Trail from here to downtown without touching a car.
We ran a Street Sweep on Virginia Ave back in May, so we have picked up literal trash on these sidewalks. It is a neighborhood we like a lot and recommend honestly.

What we like
Genuinely walkable. Real arts scene that is not manufactured. Cultural Trail access straight downtown.

Be honest about
Right now walking and parking are a genuine mess while the drain renovation project tears up the streets. Worth planning around until it wraps.

Who sends this
We are Roots, a real estate team here in Indianapolis. We created the Street Sweep and our real estate events because we love this city and want to know the people in it. If you ever want to talk through a real estate decision, a neighborhood, or you are just curious what your place is worth these days, just reply to this email. We will tell you what we know, or we are happy to help!
That is August. If someone you know would get something out of this, forward it along. And if there is an event we should have on next month’s list, reply and tell us. We read every one.
See you out there,
